DUBAI // Three prostitutes allegedly stole Dh200,000 from the briefcase of a client and ran away, the Criminal Court heard on Tuesday.
The three Ugandan women, aged 27, 32 and 35, pleaded guilty to prostitution charges. However, prosecution did not charge them with theft.
Prosecutors said a Ugandan man went to the defendants’ apartment on February 29. While one of the women had sex with him for Dh50, the other two stole the money from a briefcase containing almost Dh1 million.
A policeman told the court: “The client noticed the defendants stealing money and captured one of them. However, she managed to run away with the other women from the apartment.”
The man reported the incident to the police and the women were later arrested in Sharjah.
A witness said the women had recorded a video celebrating after stealing the money and provided the footage to the police on a USB drive.
A verdict is expected on June 16.
