DUBAI // A blacksmith will spend three months in jail after he admitted biting a woman’s lip and hugging her from behind against her will at a shopping mall.
Dubai Criminal Court ordered that the Indian defendant, 39, be deported after serving his jail term.
The incident occurred on April 1 at Al Khail Mall in Al Quoz.
The woman said she was on her way to work – she is a nurse at a medical centre in the mall – when it happened.
“Near the lift, I was taken by surprise. The man jumped at me from behind, hugged me then turned me around and bit my lip,” said the 29-year-old Indian, who reported him to police immediately.
He confessed to a sexual assault charge in court and begged for mercy.
