Thousands of runners are expected to take part in this year’s Zayed Marathon held in Suez, Egypt, on December 27. The race, now in its sixth year, has previously been staged several times in the capital, Cairo, as well as in Luxor and Ismailia. The annual event aims to honour the humanitarian legacy of the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed. Last year, more than 15,000 athletes took part, with money raised going to Shefaa Al Orman Hospital for Cancer Treatment. This year, donations will go towards assisting cancer patients being treated at University hospital in Cairo.
