Thirty women were forced to flee their homes after a late-night blaze at labour accommodation in Ras Al Khaimah on Monday.
The building, in the Al Rams area of the emirate, was evacuated as emergency services brought the fire under control. No one was injured.
Firefighters ensured there was no damage to nearby homes.
“Five gas cylinders were at the accommodation at the time of the fire but the team managed to evacuate the site and dealt with the incident quickly, preventing it from spreading to other houses in the area,” said Brigadier General Mohammed Al Zaabi, director of RAK Civil Defence.
RAK Police launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
