DUBAI // A man carrying Dh153,000 in employees’ wages for his company was robbed, stabbed and stripped of the money by three thieves, Dubai Criminal Court heard.
The three, a 21-year-old Afghan and two Pakistanis aged 28 and 32, denied charges of armed robbery and causing a permanent disability to the 24-year-old Indian employee.
“I went to Ras Al Khaimah Bank in Al Qusais and withdrew September’s salaries to take them back to the company when I was attacked by three men,” the victim said.
He said it was about 11am when a man snatched the cash envelope from his hand and when he tried to give chase, he was stabbed repeatedly.
“A man who saw me bleeding came to my help and called police,” said the Indian, who was admitted to hospital with multiple stab wounds and, after treatment, was left with a 15 per cent permanent disability in his wrist.
“I was driving back from a meeting when I saw a man bleeding heavily on the floor. I stopped my car and went to his aid,” said the 28-year-old Indian witness, who called police.
A policeman said that investigations led to the three accused, who were arrested in Sharjah. The knife used in the stabbing and some of the money was found in their car, police said.
“They confessed during questioning and said they did it because they were going through financial difficulties,” the officer said.
The next hearing is on December 6.
