ABU DHABI // Flights in and out of the country were delayed on Monday because of thick fog. “Heavy fog is disrupting operations this morning at DXB resulting in delays of up to one hour on arriving and departing flights,” Dubai Airports tweeted, adding that it was working to minimise disruptions. Flight updates can be tracked on dubaiairports.ae The National Centre of Meteorology warned of fog over Abu Dhabi International Airport but there have been no reports of flight delays in the capital. At Sharjah International Airport, arrivals were delayed up to four hours due to the weather. Forecasters on Sunday warned of poor visibility — as low as 500 metres — because of the thick fog across the country. On Monday, an accident was reported on the E30 in Mussaffah, before the Emirates Driving Company bridge, which resulted in heavy traffic and delays, the Department of Transport and Municipal Affairs said. Dubai Police took to Twitter to urge motorists to leave enough distance between vehicles ahead and not to overtake. Police also told motorists to use low-beam lights and indicate clearly when changing lanes. Foggy conditions are expected to continue over the next two days, forecasters say. Meanwhile, Dubai residents took to social media to share images and videos of the fog. newsdesk@thenational.ae
