In Dubai, crowds watched in awe as a six-part firework, laser and LED show illuminated the Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai.
In Abu Dhabi, the celebrations were more subdued but just as spectacular. Thousands lined the Corniche, and crowded into hotels and restaurants along the waterfront to watch the annual fireworks display.
