Suicide by saw reported

SHARJAH // A Pakistani businessman apparently committed suicide yesterday by using an electric saw to decapitate himself. The body and severed head of the 61-year-old man was found by his wife next to the still-running saw at their home in al Qasimiya, police said. His wife told police she had left her husband at home with their son that morning to visit one of his contracting companies, where he was supposed to meet her later. She said she became concerned when he had not arrived by midafternoon and returned home to make the grisly discovery.

Dr Ali al Zaabi and Brig Abdul Rahman Sahoh of the Sharjah Police's forensic department, examined the scene. They said in a statement that: "The deceased had put the electric saw on his neck until it cut and separated his head from his body." Police said their initial investigations and conversations with his son, who worked at one of his companies in Dubai, led them to rule out foul play. . [e-mail]
