Successful fire drill at Sharjah’s new Al Dhaid Hospital

The drill was carried out in conjunction with emergency services.

SHARJAH // A partial fire evacuation drill was successfully completed in the new Al Dhaid hospital in Sharjah.

The drill was performed in cooperation and coordination between the Central Region Police Department (operations section), the Central Operations Department at Sharjah Police, Al Dhaid’s Civil Defence station and the New Al Dhaid Hospital.

Around 90 people were evacuated, including hospital staff and doctors, technicians, workers and customers.

Two people, simulating medium to serious injuries, were rescued as part of the drill.

The drill started at 10.30am when the alarm went off in the building, smoke detectors located a simulated fire in the hospital’s kitchen and surrounding areas.

Upon receiving a report, police, ambulance, rescue and civil defence vehicles arrived at the scene.

Firefighters then entered the building to evacuate it and rescue anyone trapped or injured.
