Dubai Municipality has denied reports that the use of styrofoam products for serving beverages has been prohibited.
It was reported last week that the Supreme Committee for Consumer Protection had banned the use of styrofoam cups for hot and sour drinks after a study by the Ministry of Economy showed using them could have harmful effects on health.
Khalid Ali bin Zayed, spokesman for the municipality, reassured the public that styrofoam is safe to use according to international legislations and laws.
