DUBAI // Sheikh Zayed Road will be closed to traffic for an hour from 6.30pm due to the opening of the Dubai Canal. Drivers are being advised by the RTA to find alternative routes during rush-hour as the road will be closed in the direction of Abu Dhabi. The motorway is expected to re-open at 7.30pm. The Roads and Transport Authority advised motorists heading towards Abu Dhabi to use routes such as Al Khail and Mohammed bin Zayed Road to avoid the congestion. The three-kilometre Dubai Canal will have nine marine stations, four at Business Bay and five along the canal, for water taxis and ferries when fully operational, as well as new hotels, shops, restaurants and walkways. newsdesk@thenational.ae
