ABU DHABI // The two-week long Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival at Al Wathba returns on National Day.
The carnival will showcase a series of events on the legacy of the founding father, Sheikh Zayed.
There will be camel racing, horse parades, falconry competitions, a traditional souq and an Emirati heritage village.
Abdullah Al Muhairy, one of the festival’s organisers, said the activities will also include photo essays on Sheikh Zayed’s central role in the transformation of the UAE into a world-class country and his efforts in unifying the seven emirates.
About 20,000 people attended last year’s festival and the committee hopes to improve on that figure this year.
The festival, which ends on December 14, will open from 1pm to 10pm and entry is free.
It is being held under the patronage of the President, Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister.
