Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai and chairman of Dubai Executive Council, awarded Dubai Electricity and Water Authority a special prize. The authority won the "best government initiative award" for its smart living programme at a ceremony on Thursday. Dewa also took home the coveted "Flag of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Programme for Government Services". Among 50 initiatives submitted by 28 government departments, eight were shortlisted to compete for the coveted flag. Dewa's initiative helps residents to monitor their electricity and water consumption. "Despite the exceptional circumstances created by the pandemic, Dubai has been able to turn the greatest of challenges into opportunities," Sheikh Hamdan said. "Government entities have been able to ensure the highest levels of business and service continuity. No matter what the challenges are, our aspirations will continue to be sky high. We have a deep commitment to innovation and improvement." Other initiatives shortlisted included Dubai Police's clearance certificate; the Roads and Transport Authority's Tarabut systems integration plan; Dubai Land Department's Taqyimee smart application for real estate valuators; Dubai Health Authority's medical fitness system, Salem; Dubai Economy's auto renewal; Dubai Culture and Arts Authority's virtual guided museum tours initiative; and Dubai Municipality's Qoot mobile food testing.
