Sharjah shop caught selling pork snacks

SHARJAH // A shop owner has been fined after he was caught selling pork rind snacks.

The shop in Sharjah’s eastern region had been reported to the public health department of Khor Fakkan Municipality.

“Inspectors responded to the report and visited the outlet in question. The crisps were found to be made from pig skin,” said Fawzia Al Qadi, director of the municipality.

The owner of the business and the company that imported the products were summoned for questioning.

“All available legal action was carried out. The outlet owner was fined, he also signed a pledge not to sell any banned products at his business,” she said.

The sale of alcohol and pork is illegal in Sharjah.
