DUBAI // Sharjah Charity International has distributed clothes to more than 27,000 orphans in 19 countries across the world.
Tariq Saeed Al Noman, supervisor for the orphans at SCI, said the clothes were distributed ahead of Eid to “paint a smile on the faces of orphans and make them happy just like other children enjoying Eid”. The charity had allocated about Dh1.3 million for clothes for registered orphans this year, according to Wam, the state news agency. The effort was undertaken with authorities in those countries.
The Sharjah-based charity collects zakat, or alms given to the poor or charity, during Ramadan. The group sponsors orphans, widows and the poor, and undertakes the construction of schools, mosques and clinics in the UAE, the Middle East, East Africa and Asia.
