Seven years jail for rapists who threatened to chop up victims in Dubai

DUBAI // A pair of men will both spend seven years in jail after they were found guilty of raping and threatening to kill two women.

D R, 25, and S F, 24, threatened to chop off their victims’ heads and feed them to dogs if they did not have sex with them.

On Sunday, they were found guilty by Dubai Criminal Court of kidnapping, assaulting, threatening, stealing from, and raping Moldovan F A, 28, and Ukrainian A D, 31.

The women met the defendants at the door of a nightclub in Sheikh Zayed Road on September 9, 2013. They agreed to accompany them as the club did not allow men to enter alone.

Once inside, they went their separate ways until about 1am, when the Emirati men returned and sat with the women, had some drinks and danced together.

At 3am, the women left the club and, while waiting for a taxi, the defendants showed up and offered them a ride home in their Mercedes Benz sports car. They all agreed to have food and ice cream together before going home.

“After a while, S F told us that he wants to feed his dogs and drop us home afterwards. I was sitting next to him while D R and A D were in the back seat. When we reached his home, he offered to show me his house and dogs in the backyard and I said ‘OK’,” F A said.

After feeding the dogs, S F pushed F A against the wall and asked to have sex with her. “I refused so he started choking me and threatened to feed me to the dogs. I kept refusing and requested that he takes me home,” said F A.

The women were taken to the car to be driven home but the driver took a detour and parked in a deserted, dark area.

F A said: “He requested that I get out of the car because he wanted to talk to me, so we walked some distance away from they car and he requested to have sex with me again. When I refused, he pushed me to the ground and tried to force himself on me. I fought back and he started hitting me.”

F A then said she was overpowered and raped.

The Ukrainian victim testified that she heard her friend’s scream as she was being raped. “At that point D R told me he wanted to have sex with me and that if I refused he would drug me, rape me and chop my head off afterwards.”

A D was also raped and F A returned to the car with a bloody face.

S F told the women he wanted to return home to have sex again, but F A woman jumped out of the moving car. S F stopped the car and tried to catch the barefooted F A but she escaped.

“I couldn’t leave the car after F A jumped, because it was a two-door car,” said A D. “I insisted that D R let me out of the car. When he let me out, he grabbed F A’s shoes and bag.”

Policeman A H, 39, testified that the two men were apprehended after a report was made. D R stole Dh200 and a Nokia phone from F A’s bag and he sold the phone in Ajman for Dh70.”

At Dubai Criminal Court S F denied all charges except the assault, which he admitted. D R admitted to theft, kidnapping and making threats but denied rape, and told the judge it was consensual sex.

However, they were found guilty of all charges and sentenced to seven years in jail.
