Senior policeman appointed to Ministry of Interior position

Major Gen Nasser Salem al Nuaimi is appointed to the position of secretary general of the Minister of the Interior's Office, with the title of undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior.

ABU DHABI // Major Gen Nasser Salem al Nuaimi has been appointed to the position of secretary general of the Minister of the Interior's Office, with the title of undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, President of the UAE, issued a royal decree confirming the appointment. Major Gen Al Nuaimi, who was born in Al Ain in 1967, earned a diploma in police sciences in 1988 and a bachelor's degree in law in 1993 while with the Abu Dhabi Police. In 1997, he earned a master's degree in international law.

He worked in the Al Ain Police Department's training and development administration before joining the Minister of the Interior's Office. In 1990 he held the post of the city's head of traffic investigations for several months. From late 1990 to 1991, Maj Gen al Nuaimi was head of the Mazyad Police District, and was appointed head of personnel at Abu Dhabi Police headquarters, where he remained until 1997.

He spent two years as head of the criminal investigations division before moving on to become the assistant to the head of the deputy police director general's office. In 2000, he became director general of the Minister of the Interior's Office. In addition to his current post, Maj Gen al Nuaimi will supervise changes under the police department's new governmental strategy and at the Ministry of the Interior. He is also in charge of the citizenship committee, which is addressing the issue of Emiratisation of residents without citizenship.
