The search continued yesterday for one of two teenage cousins believed to have drowned on Thursday.
Mohammed Ali and Umar Mohammed Abdul Hussain, both about 17, were Bangladeshi, from the Chittagong area.
They were swimming with friends near the Coral Beach hotel in Sharjah at about 5pm when they got into trouble because of strong currents caused by the bad weather. Two of their four companions were injured and taken to Kuwait hospital, where they received first aid and were discharged.
The body of Mohammed washed ashore at about 2pm yesterday and was taken to Kuwait hospital.
Umar remained missing yesterday, despite efforts to find him.
Hassan Yousuf, a family friend, said police had employed divers and helicopters but had been hampered by rough conditions at sea.
"We are in a state of shock," Mr Yousuf said. "We've known the family for a long time. It's unbelievable."
Mohammed Hashim, Mohammed Ali's older brother, said: "He was very dear to me. I can't believe he is no more. My brother was born and brought up here. I don't know how we are going to live without him - he was a wonderful kid."
He added that his brother would be buried in the UAE.
A large crowd of the boys' family and friends gathered at the beach yesterday.
Workers from a nearby construction site helped the police locate the body in the sea.
A sign on the beach warned the public not to go in the water but Mr Yousuf said this was not enough to discourage some people from doing so.

Dr Amal Khalid Alias revealed a recent case of a woman with daughters, who specifically wanted a boy.
A semen analysis of the father showed abnormal sperm so the couple required IVF.
Out of 21 eggs collected, six were unused leaving 15 suitable for IVF.
A specific procedure was used, called intracytoplasmic sperm injection where a single sperm cell is inserted into the egg.
On day three of the process, 14 embryos were biopsied for gender selection.
The next day, a pre-implantation genetic report revealed four normal male embryos, three female and seven abnormal samples.
Day five of the treatment saw two male embryos transferred to the patient.
The woman recorded a positive pregnancy test two weeks later.
