ABU DHABI // An update to the popular mobile phone game Real Racing 3 has a distinctly local feel - in the form of a digitally-recreated Dubai Autodrome.
In one of many new features for the free game, players can speed around the track during a twilight race.
An 18-second trailer published on YouTube on Sunday featuring the Dubai venue has already received more than 50,000 hits.
The game, which has been developed by Australian studio Firemonkeys, has proved popular across the globe since its launch in February.
It has had 30 million downloads and its developer, Electronic Arts, earlier this year claimed it attracted 2.5 million players daily.
The game allows players to race against each other on a variety of international tracks by tilting their phones or tablets to steer through each course and earn virtual cash to upgrade cars or purchase new models.
Vehicles sustain virtual damage during races and must be constantly maintained and upgraded.
Real Racing 3 can be downloaded from Apple's App Store and Google Play for Android users at no charge but players have the option of purchasing additional in-game features.
Electronic Arts has not revealed when the Dubai track will be available but the trailer promises it will be available for download "soon".
