Policeman tries to smuggle drugs into station while high himself

Emirati officer was found to be on morphine while trying to smuggle drugs into a cell at Al Qusais police station.

DUBAI // A police officer was caught trying to smuggle drugs in to a detainee at Al Qusais police station while high himself.

Dubai Criminal Court was told that 29-year-old Emirati officer JF was arrested on May 12 while trying to smuggle drugs into a police station cell. It was unclear who he was attempting to bring the drugs in for.

Records show that the policeman was high on morphine on the day of his arrest.

He was charged with consuming drugs and attempting to smuggle drugs to a prisoner.

He denied the charges in court and a verdict is expected on September 2.
