SHARJAH // Vandals have spray painted offensive words on the school signs of Georges Pompidou International French School and the German International School in Sharjah.
“F*** France” was sprayed in red paint across the sign of the French school on Tuesday night, according to principal Didier Chartres.
Mr Chartres said the police had given their assurance the incident would be investigated.
“It was probably young kids that did this; there is nothing alarming about this,” he said.
An Algerian mother, who was attending a celebration at the school said: “These acts are stupid. I, as a parent, have no safety concerns due to bad words written on the signs. It probably was done by teens living in the area.”
The school, which has 400 pupils in grades one to five, has replaced the vandalised sign. Visitors must now register with security and present identification documents.
The German International School and Sharjah Police declined to comment on the graffiti at the school. Sources at Sharjah Educational Zone said they had not received an official complaint of vandalism.
