Netflix show Sacred Games apologises for screening UAE resident's mobile number

Netflix has apologised to a UAE resident after he was bombarded with phone calls when one of their top shows accidentally screened his mobile number.

Kunhabdulla CM, from India, revealed he had been forced to switch off his phone after receiving more than 200 calls from fans from around the world.

Writers from the smash-hit crime thriller Sacred Games accidentally screened his number during a scene involving an undercover agent.

Eagle-eyed fans of the programme spotted Mr Kunhabdulla's details on a slip of paper handed to one of the series’ lead characters. It was even flashed up in the show’s subtitles.

"I realised there was a show on TV like this only after all the calls came flooding in," Mr Kunhabdulla told Khaleej Times.

“I got worried when people [rang and] said things like 'killer game'. I feared it was part of a bigger conspiracy and I was in trouble.”

Netflix has since removed Mr Kunhabdulla’s number from the show's subtitles and apologised.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused. As soon as we were alerted of the situation, we resolved the issue,” a statement said.
