ABU DHABI // Abu Dhabi Municipality has denied that it issued notifications to residents that stray dogs would be shot.
A resident had sent The National a photograph of the notice, which asked dog owners to keep their pets inside on August 23, saying that dogs wandering in the street would be considered as strays.
The notice appeared to be dated August 20 and was signed by “AD Housing”, but the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority said it is not aware of any such notice.
A municipal official said on Monday that no such notices had been issued by the Abu Dhabi City Municipality.
“If we have to notify residents for any such issue, first we would inform media to tell people,” the official said. “No such statements were made by the municipality.”
