Municipalities call for use of slaughterhouses this Eid

Municipalities in Abu Dhabi have called on the public to refrain from slaughtering animals at home, or any place other than municipal slaughtering facilities as preparations are made for Eid.

To avoid the risk of contamination, precautions are taken to ensure that livestock was subject to veterinary checks conducted free of charge at the slaughterhouses.

The municipalities urged the public to read the awareness leaflets provided for them at the waiting areas of various slaughterhouses.

Authorities also cautioned against dealing with roaming butchers who lacked hygiene credentials and did not have sufficient knowledge in how to detect veterinary diseases.

The hours of operation for Abu Dhabi slaughterhouses are 6am to 6pm and include locations in Al Mina, Al Shahama and Baniyas.

Al Wathba Modern Slaughterhouse will operate from 8am to 4pm during Eid to meet the demand.

During Ramadan, Abu Dhabi abattoirs disposed of 198 unhealthy animals.

The Abu Dhabi facilities have so far processed 41,359 animals this year compared with 34,110 last year.

Al Ain municipality slaughterhouses will open from 6am to 7pm
