ABU DHABI // Seventeen mums from across the country who work as police officers were honoured by the Emirati Women's Police Association recently.

The women were chosen for their service as either current and retired police officers.

The honorees received praise for their services to the police and to the country in eight categories: retirees, officers with disabilities, longest service tenure, senior physician, senior trainer, senior nurse, senior worker and distinguished mother.

During the celebration Dr Sheikha Saif Al Shamsi, director general of Arab Women's Organisation, was also honoured for her continuous efforts in support of women's issues.

This version CORRECTS a mistranslation. The women were honoured for serving as officers and not, as originally reported, for raising officers.
