Hundreds of motorists who were pulled over for violating traffic laws in Ajman yesterday, were let off with a warning and an advice instead of a fine, as part of the force's initiative "Day without traffic Violations".
The "Day Without Violations" initiative was implemented on July 23rd to educate community members about road safety, dangers of speeding and reckless driving and to motivate them to avoid committing traffic violations.
Major Fuad Ali Al Khaja, Head of Traffic and Patrols Department at Ajman Police said traffic patrol personnel in Ajman Police distributed leaflets to offenders who were pulled over for committing a violation instead of issuing them a fine. "The move aims to raise awareness and motivate motorists to drive carefully in order to help reduce the number of traffic accidents in the country," said the major.
The initiative is one of many others the force is carrying out throughout the year to increase the level of traffic awareness, said the major adding that drivers seem to enjoy the "Day without violations" initiative and that the overall results of the force's initiatives showed a decline in the number of serious traffic accidents from 262 accidents in 2016 to 191 accidents last year while minor accidents dropped from 25,041 to 23,028.
