ABU DHABI // Motorists have been told to obey the rules of the road and not to go overboard when decorating their cars for this year’s National Day celebrations on December 2.
Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, said motorists should not drive recklessly and avoid blocking traffic.
Decorating cars with patriotic slogans and images is permitted as long as the driver’s view is not obscured by stickers on the windshield or rear window. Sitting on the roof, bonnet or back of a moving car is strictly prohibited.
Brigadier Al Dhaheri stressed that it is prohibited to modify a vehicle’s engine to make it louder, to change its colour or blur the front or rear license plates. He added that spraying passers-by or other cars is also not permitted.
Any violation of these regulations will be deemed a traffic violation and will incur the appropriate penalties.
