SHARJAH // A mother and daughter have been arrested after a maid was found dead at their home in Kalba.
The Indonesian woman’s body was found by the woman’s husband. Police launched an investigation after signs of torture were found on her body.
Investigations found that the family had employed eight maids in the past two years, with most of them absconding. The dead woman had previously sought shelter at a neighbour’s home.
The wife confessed to police that she beat the maid repeatedly while the daughter said she assaulted the woman with her mother, police said.
The case was referred to public prosecution.
