AJMAN// More than 16,000 counterfeit goods, including fake Adidas, Nike, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Michael Kors and Prada items, were seized in the first eight months of the year in Ajman.
All of the confiscated items were destroyed by the Department of Economic Development and the shops were they were being sold, which included businesses in China Mall, were shut down, said Mohammed Al Kitbi, Director of the Control and Consumer Protection Section.
“In one of the confiscations we found catalogues on how to make fake items as they bring in pieces separately and make them in the country. We put all our efforts into cracking down on commercial fraud in the emirate.
“We carry out inspection campaigns on warehouses and target university and school students to make them aware of commercial fraud and counterfeit products,” Mr Al Kitbi said.
He added that consumers should report any fake items being sold in the emirate by emailing info@ajmanded.ae
