More than 1,600 Dubai motorists fined during National Day weekend



DUBAI// More than 1,600 traffic fines were issued and 149 vehicles impounded during the 44th National Day weekend.

Col Saif Al Mazrouei, director of the General Department of Traffic, said police issued the majority of fines in Deira.

The fines were handed out for parking in undesignated areas, jaywalking, obstructing traffic, littering and reckless driving. Of the 1,628 fines, 32 were also given to motorists driving loud vehicles.

In Abu Dhabi, 400 cars were impounded and their owners fined for breaching National Day decoration rules and traffic laws, police said.
