Men ‘stole Dh338,000 worth of jeans’ in Dubai

DUBAI // Four jobless men broke into a shop and stole Dh338,000 worth of jeans, Dubai Criminal Court was told on Sunday.

The five Pakistani men, aged between 28 and 52, are charged with armed robbery. Two of them are facing a separate charge of infiltrating the country and not possessing passports, as well as returning to the country after previously being deported.

Only three of the accused were present in court and the presiding judge said he would not confront them with the charges until the forth defendant was present.

Prosecutors said that on March 2, the men broke into a warehouse owned by a 52-year-old Indian in Ras Al Khor.

“The robbery must have happened during the night as we came in the morning at 9.45am to find the warehouse’s lock damaged and 141 boxes containing jeans missing,” said the owner, who called police.

Police managed to arrest the defendants seize the jeans, which were in their possession.

Prosecutors said they confessed to charges during interrogations.

The next hearing will be May 8 to summon the fourth defendant.
