DUBAI // Two men who kidnapped, raped, robbed and threatened to kill a woman who thought she was applying for a job with them have been sentenced to life in prison.
The Filipina victim called the Pakistani men after seeing a job vacancy on Dubizzle.
“On May 23 last year I received a call regarding the job and the man told me to come for an interview,” she said.
That day she met the two at BurJuman Metro Station and got into their car after they said they would drive her to the company’s office for the interview.
On the way, they began to touch her so she told them to stop the car and punched one of them on the nose. One of the men used a Taser to subdue her.
When she tried to attract the attention of passing motorists by knocking on the window she was pulled to the floor of the car.
The men threatened to kill her if she did not stop resisting and told her they would also let their friends rape her if she did not cooperate.
The two, aged 32 and 30, then took turns raping her.
“When one of them wanted to rape me again I told him I would do it willingly if he untied my legs, and when he did I kicked him and jumped out of the car,” she said.
Her attackers fled when she ran towards a group of workers. She went to the police who arrested the two shortly afterwards.
“One confessed to me that he raped her after luring her on Dubizzle with a job,” said an Emirati policeman.
A medical report showed the woman suffered bruises in the attack and from being struck with the Taser.
In court last October, both men denied charges of rape, kidnap, issuing threats and theft. The two will be deported after serving their life sentences, which in the UAE is usually 25 years.
