DUBAI // A mechanic accused of kidnap and rape has had his acquittal upheld by the Appeals Court, which ruled the sex was consensual.
However, the court also upheld the man’s one-year jail term for sex-outside-wedlock.
SE, 60, an Emirati, was accused of posing as a policeman to kidnap and rape a maid. But when he appeared at the Criminal Court last February he said the case was malicious and that the woman had been going out with him for more than a month.
DNA traces proved the pair had engaged in sexual intercourse. The woman was not referred to court.
