The Abu Dhabi Education Council and Masdar Institute of Science and Technology on Sunday announced that Abu Dhabi has won the bid to host the 14th International Conference on Greenhouse Gas Technology in 2018.

Held biennially, the conference series has established itself as the principal international conference on greenhouse gas mitigation technologies, especially on carbon dioxide capture and storage.

“This is a win for Abu Dhabi and the UAE that exemplifies our strong conviction in collaborative partnership,” said Dr Fred Moavenzadeh, president of Masdar Institute. “We believe hosting global events of this stature in Abu Dhabi will further strengthen the status of the emirate as a centre for innovations in renewable energy and advanced technology.”

The bidding process was supported by Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau. Dr Arif Al Hammadi, executive director of the higher education sector at Adec, said winning the bid “stands as testimony to our commitment for collaborative efforts in attracting high-profile research-oriented events”.
