Man who failed to pay prostitute accused of rape, hears Dubai court

FA, who is accused of prostitution, reported AA for rape after he failed to pay her, according to police.

DUBAI // A man who repeatedly cheated prostitutes by having sex with them then refusing to pay was reported for rape, a court heard yesterday.

FA, 39, from Uzbekistan, who is accused of prostitution, reported AA, a 43-year-old Comoros Islands passport holder, for rape after he failed to pay her, according to police.

MH, an Emirati police officer, told the Criminal Court she admitted meeting the man and having sex with him on the understanding that he would pay her.

“When he didn’t pay her, she decided to accuse him of rape because as she said, he had done the same thing with many other prostitutes she knew,” testified the officer

A Bangladeshi taxi driver NA, 28, testified that at about 1.30am on June 26 this year, he saw the woman running towards him with one of her shoes in her hand. “She jumped into the taxi and handed me her mobile phone. On the other end of the line was a woman who told me to head to Al Nahda.”

He asked the woman why she was afraid and why her blouse was torn. “She said she was a prostitute and that she had sex with a man on the understanding he would pay her Dh1,500. She said he paid the money and had sex with her but afterwards he snatched the money from her purse then threw her out.”

FA denied a charge of prostitution. AA denied a charge of consensual sex but confessed to consuming alcohol without a licence.

The next hearing was scheduled for November 5.
