DUBAI // A man is accused of threatening to kill his former boss, cut him to pieces and scatter the parts across the desert, Dubai Criminal Court heard on Sunday.

Prosecutors said the 35-year-old Pakistani defendant called the Indian several times and threatened him after the manager submitted a bounced cheque report against the suspect to police.

“The calls started in November 2011 and continued until June 2012,” said the development manager, 39.

He said the suspect did not reveal his identity and, in each call, threatened to cause him and his family injury.

“He said that I should drop the report I made with the police or else he will stalk me and my family members then kill me, and he also said that he will have his brother and other men on my tail to kill me and cut my body into pieces,” said the Indian.

His wife said the suspect worked for them between 2007 and 2009. She did not explain whether the man was dismissed from his job or resigned. However, she said that they possessed a number of cheques the defendant issued to them and they bounced.

It was not clear why the case took four years to reach court.

The defendant was not present in court to enter a plea against a charge of issuing death threats.

The next hearing will be on November 6.
