DUBAI // A man spiked the drink of a 13-year-old girl he had picked up from school and then raped her at knifepoint in his car, the Criminal Court has heard.
Prosecutors told the court that the defendant B A, 22, who holds a Comoros Islands passport, was friends with the girl’s boyfriend.
The Emirati girl said: “Me and my boyfriend had had a fight and I wasn’t taking his calls, so he used a different number to call me.
“Later that same day, I received a call from the same number and it was B A, who told me he was a close friend of my boyfriend.”
She added that after this, he began regularly calling her for about two months.
“On March 19 this year he called me and asked where was my school located, so I told him,” she said.
“He said he wanted to come pick me up, and I said I couldn’t go with him and be late and my family would notice, but he insisted that it was going to be a short journey.”
At about 10.30am, he picked her up, and began holding her hand as he drove her around.
“He had two cans of juice in the car. He pointed at one and said he got it for me. I had few sips then felt dizzy,” she said.
She asked him if he had spiked her drink but he denied it. She began to feel more dizzy and he took her onto the back seat.
“He had me on the back seat before he reached under it and dragged a sword which had fresh blood on it,” she said.
“He told me that he had just used it on someone. He then picked up a small knife and showed it to me telling me that he would use it on me. Then he ordered me to finish my juice, which I did,” said the girl.
She said he then raped her. “I screamed and cried so he gagged me and I bit his hand,” she said.
He then dropped her back at her family’s house.
The next day she told her family.
Her father and brother contacted the defendant and told him to come to their house. They then escorted him to the police station.
Prosecutors said that the defendant denied raping the girl, saying he only admitted taking her out of school in his car before dropping her back to her family’s house.
He denied a charge of rape at the Dubai Criminal Court on Sunday and requested time to prepare his defence.
The next hearing will be on September 21.
