Man 'jumped to his death after his wife and son killed themselves' in Sharjah

A man jumped to his death from a seventh floor hotel apartment last month after his wife and son killed themselves, according to Sharjah Police.
On August 29, at 2.30pm, police received a report about a 55-year-old Sri Lankan man having jumped to his death. Police identified the man at the scene but found the door to his apartment locked.

Police officers obtained a prosecution's permission before forcing open the door to find the bodies of his 19-year-old son and 53-year-old wife. They also found two other women, the wife's sister and niece aged 27 and 17, who needed medical care after attempting to take their own lives.
Police said the son was seemingly the first to die and was followed by his mother. The two other women also attempted suicide after which the father jumped his death.
The bodies were referred to Kuwaiti hospital before being sent to the forensic laboratory.

The two women who survived the alleged group suicide attempt, were treated at Kuwaiti hospital and were then referred to a hospital in Ras Al Khaimah for psychological evaluation.
