DUBAI// A would be thief failed to rob a man by spraying him in the eyes with pepper because the victim was wearing sunglasses, heard Dubai Criminal Court.
Prosecutors charged KS, 22, a Pakistani salesman, with attempted theft which he denied.
The court was told that on September 22 this year, KS used pepper spray on 46-year-old Indian victim KP then tried to snatch his mobile phone and a bag containing cash.
“I was wearing glasses therefore the pepper spray did not blind me and I was able to resist him. When he tried to run away, he stumbled and hit a parked car then we restrained him until police arrived,” said KP.
Prosecutors said that during interrogations, KS confessed. However, he denied the charge in court and awaits a verdict on November 26.
