Man hid hashish in shoes, Dubai court hears

DUBAI // A 32-year-old man tried to smuggle 104 grams of hashish into the country by hiding it in a pair of shoes.

On October 24, last year at Dubai International Airport, inspectors scanned a package belonging to the Indian.

An Emirati Customs inspector said the scan showed the shoes had a suspiciously thick sole.

“I checked the shoes and found the drugs,” the inspector said.

In Dubai Criminal Court, the defendant denied a charge of smuggling drugs.

A verdict is due to be issued on February 27.
