Man forged salesman’s signature to buy car in his name, Dubai court told

DUBAI // A salesman involved in a traffic accident was told by police he had unpaid fines for a Mitsubishi car he did not own, but was registered in his name, a court heard.

Prosecutors said Indian BK, 33, forged the signature of compatriot SA to buy and register the car with the RTA.

“I was involved in an accident while driving the company car, police told me I had unpaid fines on a private car,” said SA, 30.

“I was baffled because I never bought a car.”

The RTA confirmed the car was in SA’s name.

Prosecutors said BK admitted buying the car and registering it in SA’s name and forging an insurance policy.

BK entered a plea of not guilty at the Dubai Criminal Court. The next hearing is set for June 8.
