ABU DHABI// A man forged a document attesting that his parents and siblings were dead so he could acquire an Emirati passport.
M A, a GCC national, stood trial alongside two Emiratis, who signed the document as his witnesses back in 2005.
The fraud was only discovered recently after it came to light that M A did not have any siblings and his parents were still alive.
He confessed to the crime but the other two defendants denied any wrongdoing, saying they signed the document without knowing the background of the man.
The case was adjourned until February 17 while a defence lawyer was appointed.
