Man disabled by UAE accident awarded Dh2m in damages



An Abu Dhabi commercial court ordered an insurance company to pay Dh2 million in damages to an Asian man who was run over by a car insured by the company.

The victim's brother filed the lawsuit seeking compensation for physical, material and moral damages.

The victim is no longer capable of taking care of himself or working.

The court ordered compensation of Dh100,000 for each limb or organ that was damaged and half that amount for damage to his skull, causing a 50 per cent disability. He was also granted Dh200,000 for special medical care.
