SHARJAH // An Asian maintenance work has died after a lift collapsed on him.
The accident happened at about 1.30pm on Friday while the man was cleaning the lifts on the third floor of a residential building in the Al Butina area, police said.
By the time police and civil defence officials arrived on the scene the worker was already dead, said Maj Mohammed Al Naqbi of Al Hira Police station.
The victim was identified as Shajo S S from India.
His body has been transferred to forensic laboratory, Maj Al Naqbi said.
In another weekend accident an Indian man, 35, drowned while swimming on Al Khan beach on Friday. Police removed the body at about 5pm and it was also taken to the forensics laboratory.
