Man denies raping woman in her Dubai office

A marketing executive has denied raping a woman in her office, claiming 'it did not happen'.

DUBAI // A marketing executive denied raping a woman in her office and claimed the incident “did not happen”.

HA, 40, went to the Filipina’s office, started massaging her shoulders but when she turned down his advances he threw her on the desk and raped her, prosecutors alleged at Dubai Criminal Court on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old woman said she met the defendant two months before the incident when she joined the company.

“He gave me his card after saying he worked for a company selling massaging chairs,” adding that she met the man, who is from Egypt, a couple of times in the corridor.

At 5.15pm on May 21 she said he knocked on her door asking why she had not called him.

“I said I was busy but he asked to explain to me how the massaging chairs worked,” she claimed.

The woman said he grabbed her shoulders to give her a massage. She refused and then the man pushed her down and raped her.

She managed to escape and locked herself into another office, the court heard.

“I locked myself inside. Then when I felt he was gone I went to security and told them,” she said.

Police were then called.

HA denied the charges and the next hearing was set for December 24.
