DUBAI // A passenger who was caught carrying drugs while passing through Dubai International Airport will have to spend 10 years in jail.
The 40-year-old Nigerian lost his bid for a reduced jail term as the Dubai Court of Appeal upheld the sentence.
He was found guilty of carrying more than one kilogram of cocaine in his stomach. He was fined Dh50,000.
On November 16 he got off a plane passing through Dubai airport and was arrested when 80 capsules of the drug were detected in his stomach as he passed through an X-ray scanner.
