Firefighters from three emirates battled a blaze that swept through a cluster of warehouses in Ajman’s industrial area on Tuesday afternoon. The fire destroyed the four warehouses and sent plumes of black smoke into the sky. No casualties were reported. Fire crews arrived at the scene in Al Jurf within three minutes of the alarm being raised. “Firefighters from three civil defence stations, with support from Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain civil defence departments, responded to the fire report that was received at 3.27pm,” said Brig Gen Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, head of Ajman Civil Defence. “The fire gutted four furniture warehouses that are owned by three different companies.” Police patrols, paramedics and teams from Ajman Municipality were also on site. A cooling process began, following which police will begin their investigation into the cause of the fire.
