Killer driver asks for licence back after just two months

Woman whose reckless driving killed two men asks court for her licence back before end of her six-month suspension period.

ABU DHABI // A woman whose reckless driving killed two men asked the Appeals Court yesterday to return her licence before her six-month suspension period ends.

HS, an Emirati, told Chief Justice Dr Khairi Al Kabbash that she hadn’t meant to harm the men and that she had already paid Dh400,000 in blood money and a Dh20,000 fine.

“I would like to receive my licence back, it has already been suspended for more than three months,” she said.

The judge corrected her, noting the licence had been suspended since July 17, adding: “You need to be very careful, human life is very precious.”

A verdict is expected on October 10.
