ABU DHABI // Budding journalists, illustrators and radio DJs can hone their skills while having fun at KidZania in the Dubai Mall.
Abu Dhabi Media has teamed up with KidZania to introduce children to the world of journalism and creative media.
Youngsters can try their hand at news reporting with The National, or become comic artists with Majid magazine or radio presenters with Star FM.
The media zone has scaled-down versions of a newsroom, a magazine production house and a radio recording studio.
At The National station, activities include reporting news events from around the KidZania city, taking photos and writing stories. Fatima Seif, editor of Majid magazine, said more than 70 roles for children were included in the activities. Visitors to Majidcould design their own story page.
At the Star FM radio station, children can test their DJ skills and create their own programme with Star FM music and features.
"The media plays an increasingly important role in shaping public dialogue and pushing the knowledge horizons of youngsters," said Arif Amiri, the chief executive at Emaar Retail, which manages KidZania.
KidZania mixes play with learning, offering children a real-life business and social environment that familiarises them with real-world professions.
