Jilted lover jailed for sending blasphemous texts

When the married woman decided to return to her husband, the Syrian man called her family to expose their affair.

DUBAI // A jilted lover who sent blasphemous texts to a married woman after she broke up their affair has been jailed for six months.

The Criminal Court heard that Syrian M A, 25, met the woman online and she told him she was having problems with her marriage.

They started a relationship but she decided to end it and return to her husband.

She told the court that M A had taken photos of her without her knowledge and copied her phone’s address book.

N K, 30, a policewoman, told the court: “When she wanted to end her affair with M A he threatened to use her pictures against her and demanded that she remained in a relationship with him.”

The officer said the woman told her he threatened to post her pictures online and send copies to her family and friends.

She turned off her phone but he started calling friends and family on the numbers he copied from her address book.

“She told me he called her mother and told her that he was in an affair with her daughter, then called her cousins and told them she was a bad woman,” the policewoman said.

He also sent messages using blasphemous words to her old number.

He will be deported after he has finished his sentence.
